How to Use the ACFT Calculator
An ACFT Calculator is a tool that helps U.S. Army personnel (and those preparing for service) estimate their scores on the Army Combat Fitness Test based on their raw performance in each event.
The ACFT is designed to measure physical readiness across multiple domains—strength, endurance, and agility—through six different events. Passing the ACFT is a requirement for all soldiers, and scoring higher can improve career opportunities and demonstrate combat readiness.
Why Use the ACFT Calculator?
The ACFT is demanding, and knowing how your performance translates into points can:
- Help you set training goals.
- Allow you to track progress over time.
- Show you exactly which events need improvement.
- Prepare yourself before the official test so there are no surprises.
Events Covered by the Calculator
The calculator measures the six ACFT events:
- 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift (MDL) – Strength test using weights.
- Standing Power Throw (SPT) – Explosive power using a medicine ball.
- Hand-Release Push-Ups (HRP) – Upper-body muscular endurance.
- Sprint-Drag-Carry (SDC) – Speed, agility, and muscular endurance.
- Plank Hold (PLK) – Core strength (replacing the leg tuck).
- Two-Mile Run (2MR) – Cardiovascular endurance.
Each event is scored from 0 to 100 points, with a maximum total of 600 points. The minimum passing score is 360 points (60 points per event).
Steps to Use the Calculator
- Input your raw scores for each event. For example, if you deadlift 200 lbs, enter
200
. - Click “Calculate ACFT Score.”
- The calculator will display your points per event, total score, and Pass/Fail status.
Example Calculation
Suppose a soldier scores:
- Deadlift: 200 lbs → 30 points
- Power Throw: 9.5 m → 68 points
- Push-Ups: 40 reps → 60 points
- Sprint-Drag-Carry: 2:10 → 70 points
- Plank: 120 seconds → 40 points
- Run: 16:30 → 75 points
Total Score: 343 / 600 → Fail
This shows the soldier needs to improve plank and push-up performance to pass.
Benefits of the ACFT Calculator
- Immediate feedback: Know your score instantly.
- Training tool: Helps you focus on weaker events.
- Motivational: Track improvement over time.
- Preparation aid: Avoids surprises on test day.
ACFT Calculator FAQ
Q1: How accurate are the scores?
A: This calculator uses a simplified scoring scale. Actual ACFT scoring tables are more detailed, so official results may vary slightly.
Q2: What is the passing score for the ACFT?
A: Soldiers must score at least 360 points total and a minimum of 60 points in each event.
Q3: Does the calculator adjust scores for gender or age?
A: This version is simplified and does not apply gender or age adjustments. Official scoring may consider these factors.
Q4: Can this calculator be used for training purposes?
A: Yes! It’s ideal for tracking progress and identifying weak points in preparation for the test.
Q5: Why does the plank replace the leg tuck?
A: The U.S. Army adopted the plank as the standard core strength test after many soldiers struggled with the leg tuck.
Q6: How often do soldiers need to take the ACFT?
A: Soldiers typically take the ACFT twice a year, though schedules can vary depending on unit requirements.
Q7: What happens if I fail the ACFT?
A: Failing may require remedial physical training and could impact career progression until passing standards are met.
